What is JC CoolScience?
JC CoolScience is a 4.5-year project launched in 2024, created and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, in partnership with the Education University of Hong Kong. The Project builds upon the Trust’s longstanding commitment to education, in supporting the development of future-ready competencies and student agency in our next generation to tackle global challenges and drive innovation.
JC CoolScience will benefit 30,000 students from 120 primary schools. It will also support 500 teachers through professional development, “Advanced Teacher Fellowship” training, and Community of Practice activities, enhancing their readiness to deliver high-quality IBL.

- Empower primary science teachers to lead meaningful and engaging science learning experiences through inquiry-based pedagogies
- Inspire students to wonder, inquire, investigate, and discover the world around them through science inquiry practices and broadened science exposure
Our Goals
- Strengthen primary science teachers’ practice through collaborative professional development and access to high-quality curriculum enrichment resources
- Foster students’ science literacy, interest and learning motivation through inquiry-based experiential learning in and outside of the classroom
- Nurture teacher leaders and build a sustainable teacher community of practice to build sector capacity
